KHM Travel Group’s Agent Advisory Board Explores Costa Rica
Written by: KHM Travel on October 29, 2018
Costa Rica, known as the land of Pura Vida, played host to our Travel Agent Advisory board this October as they met to discuss the travel industry, their business victories and concerns, and explore the natural wonders and stellar resorts that the destination has to offer. Joined by our Vice President of Sales Geoff Cox and our Director of Industry Affairs, Bill Coyle, the agents had the chance to share their insights and take in the beauty of this Central American country.
Costa Rica’s natural landscape, featuring beaches, volcanoes, and rainforests full of wildlife, draws in visitors from around the world. Geoff said that one of his favorite parts of the trip was a nature hike where the group spotted three different species of monkeys native to Costa Rica. Adventures like this are one of the many reasons that agents are seeing more and more of their clients asking about vacations to this vibrant country.
Geoff also noted that this destination is ideal for travelers who are looking for an active vacation or who have already visited other Caribbean destinations. A Costa Rica getaway appeals more to clients who enjoy being active and immersing themselves in a destination, as opposed to spending days lounging on a beach or by a pool.
The key to your clients maximizing their experience in Costa Rica: learn about the dry season and rainy season to ensure you book your clients during a time of the year that is best for the excursions they would like to partake in. The dry season is generally from mid-November through late-April and is a busy time of year for tourism. The rainy season stretches from May to mid-November and while there is less sunshine, clients can get more for their money by visiting during these months.
Our agents were thrilled to have the chance to stay in the RIU Palace Guanacaste and the Planet Hollywood Guanacaste. These accommodations, provided in coordination with Apple Leisure Group, gave agents firsthand knowledge that they can share with their clients and their fellow KHM Travel Agents. Bill noted that both of these resort properties had beach space, quality pool areas, and a variety of great amenities. Bill also noted that he loved the food at the RIU Palace, and he thought the rooms at Planet Hollywood were outstanding.
Not only did our advisory board learn a great deal about this destination, the resorts, and the excursions, but they were also able to have important discussions about the travel industry and provide KHM Travel Group with important feedback about how we can continue to improve our resources and support our agents. For us, this information is valuable and helps us to help all of you! Thank you to our advisory board for your time, energy, and feedback.
